OpenVMS - How to add SAN disk for System DUMP


Assumption : We have taken SAN disk with LUN ID : DGA2021, You may choose any SAN with available LUN ID.


1.    Initialize the disk

           init $1$dga2021: /cluster=16 /header=100000/limit/owner=system/nohigh m_dump

2.       Mount the disk with proper Volume label
mount/system $1$dga2021: m_dump m_dump

3.       Create Directory for proper path

             create/dir m_dump:[sys0.sysexe]

4.       Create DUMP.DMP file using SYSGEN Utility

           mc sysgen create m_dump:[sys0.sysexe]sysdump.dmp /size=12000000 /cont
  
5.       Verify DUMP.DMP file size which is recently created using SYSGEN utility

           dir/size=all m_dump:[sys0.sysexe]sysdump.dmp

6.       edit sys$Startup:sylogicals.com - Add these lines:
         $ if f$device(""$1$DGA2021:"",""EXISTS"") THEN mount/system $1$dga2021: m_dump m_dump
         $ define/system/exec CLUE$DOSD_DEVICE $1$DGA2021:

7.       Add DUMP device for permanently in Booting option

@sys$manager:boot_options
        Choose D for dump -
        Display boot options list
        Add to boot options list the new device $1$DGA2021:
        Display boot options list"
        Update dumpstyle 13

OpenVMS - How to enable Auditing for specific File

  1. First We need to enable Auditing with audit server for file access as shown below as bold. System security audits currently enabled for:   ACL   Authorization   Audit:         illformed   Breakin:       dialup,local,remote,network,detached   Logfailure:    batch,dialup,local,remote,network,subprocess,detached   FILE access:     Failure:     read,write,execute,delete,control If "FILE access" is NOT enabled, run below command to get it enabled.
